Frederick J. Patrie, 62, of Kenosha died peacefully at his home after a brief illness Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, with his loving wife and family by his side.

Born in Eau Claire, Wis., Dec. 16, 1951, he was the son of the late Frederick G. and Verna R. (Mueller) Patrie. He received his master’s degree in public administration.

On June 10, 1986, at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Waukesha, Wis., he was united in marriage to Melody M. Fohr.

Fred retired from service as the public works director for Kenosha County. Previously, he served as the former village administrator for West Milwaukee.

He loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling the U.S. in his motor home with his family. Fred was known and will be remembered as a very generous man who selflessly gave his time to others.

He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Melody Patrie; his brothers, Paul (Janice) Patrie of Milwaukee, and Ed (Judy) Quandt of Bonita Springs, Fla.; his sisters, Carol Schmit of Davenport, Iowa, Pat (Greg) Keller of Hot Springs, Ark., Mary (Dave) Wing of West Salem, and Lanny (Lonnie) Knoble of Damascus, Ore.; and his many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Greg Patrie; his sister, Joan Patrie; and his nephew, Eric Wing.

A gathering of relatives and friends will be held from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at the funeral home. Private inurnment will take place in La Crosse Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
